Home Grown Centre Pieces

As I've mentioned in a previous blog, I've been growing my own lavender. I'm hoping to grow my own wedding flowers, but if not, I at least want to grow my own centre pieces.

I've got 8 lavender plants growing so far (I've been growing from seeds), and I need 10 all together for the tables at the reception.

This week I bought 10 terracotta plant pots from Wilko at 60p each, and a £1 tester pot of grey emulsion paint.

I've seen lots of painted plant pots in the shops lately, and wanted to give the hand painted look to my terracotta pots. I could have gone for a neater look, or a dipped look, but I like the imperfect, hand made look to these pots, although being a bit of a perfectionist they were never going to look very rough and ready.

I've already used the same paint on other pots outside, and it has stood up brilliantly against the weather, so it will be fine to last for the next year as the plants grow up until the wedding.

I want to mix it up and bit, and leave some pots plain terracotta and some painted. Now I just need a few more plants to put in them.

Fingers crossed!
