The Honeymoon

I’m happy to say that the Honeymoon is now (mostly) booked. It’s going to be in – drum roll – Cornwall!

We have taken advantage of early booking discounts and booked a caravan for a week near Crantock Bay, but first we will spend 3 nights at a guest house in Mousehole, which is near Penzance. I visited Mousehole for the first time a couple of years ago and fell in love. Cornwall is such a beautiful place, and even on a shoestring budget this trip is going to be quite expensive for us, costing easily as much as going abroad for a fortnight. While some may think it isn't the most exciting of destinations for a honeymoon, me and my Anonymous Groom find it every bit as exotic as going abroad, and love the beautiful seas and white sandy beaches, as well as the excellent (at least every time we have visited) weather. We will book train tickets nearer the time to get the best deal on those.

There is so much we want to fit into this trip, not least to visit to Port Issac (both being rather geeky fans of Doc Martin) and St Michael's Mount. We also love seafood and look forward to eating at the local pubs, cafes and restaurants while we are there.

There will be a gap of over a week between the wedding and the honeymoon, in order for us to prepare and settle after the wedding. The problems with such a DIY wedding is that we really will have to do everything ourselves, with the help of friends and family, and so there is a lot of work involved.
